Welcome to Frey's Dahlias!

Dahlias and September just go hand in hand!  Even with the cold wet spring, our blooms are coming along nicely!  More color in the field everyday.  Our field is open for visitors and the dahlias are looking great. We still have potted dahlia plants for sale, call or email for availability as they are going quickly.

Lost and Found - If you come out and find you have left something, like sunglasses, camera lens covers, or a hat, let us know, if we find it, we will let you know.

Our online catalog is not up to date at this time. We are working on it.  Any orders received for tubers at this time will be shipped in the Spring of 2011.

OPEN HOUSE - SEPTEMBER 11 AND 12, 2010 FROM 10AM TO 5PM. REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED AND WE WILL HAVE FREE SEMINARS ON FLOWER ARRANGING AND CARE AND CULTURE OF DAHLIAS. CUT FLOWERS AND DAHLIA PLANTS WILL BE FOR SALE.

Come and enjoy the day and learn how to grow dazzling dahlias in your garden.  We hope to see you all here!

If you have a wedding or other big event this summer/fall, now is the time to choose your flowers, dahlias are easy to use for arrangements, bouquets, corsages and whatever else.  We do not ship flowers. Local people can come and pick them up, fresh cut and ready to go. Check out our Cut Flower page for more information.

We have also joined Facebook. Follow us, or try to keep up with us.

Things to do in August, September and October

August and September are good times to just sit back and enjoy the dahlias.  Keep them deadheaded (pick the old blooms off) so that new blooms will keep coming.  It is too late to fertilize in September, so don't do that, the tubers could get soft and mushy. If your plants are getting a white powdery mildew, you can spray with most any garden fungicide, just read the labels and follow the directions.  If you live in the Northwest,  mildew is a part of life.

The same goes for October, enjoy the dahlias as long as possible!  The plants will start shutting down and make less and less new blooms.  They are putting energy into the roots, the tubers.  When they turn black and gross in late October or November, protect them with mulch, leaves, hay, etc. to ensure they will once again poke their heads above ground next spring. You can dig and store them also if you want.  We have more information under our Care and Culture Section.

SHIPPING AND REFUND POLICY:

Payment is required when order is placed. If Credit/debit card is used, the card is charged when the order is received, this reserves the tubers for you.  The tubers are sent by US Mail, Priority or Parcel Post in April or May.  We ship in the order the orders are received, and start with orders we have from August 2009.  If you want them sooner, please send an email requesting a different date. If sent before April, we can't offer the guarantee on the tubers as weather can be  harsh at this time of year.  We typically do not send before March 1st.

If you live close and want to pick up your order, just indicate on the order form that you want to pick it up.  There will be no shipping charges on those orders.  We will let you know when they are ready.

Our dahlias are state inspected. Tubers are guaranteed to have live eyes and to the best of our knowledge, be true to name.  If you receive a mix up in variety, or if they do not grow due to not having live eyes or sprouts, please let us know by October of that year.  These tubers will be replaced the following year if too late to replace the same year (After June 15th or if variety has been sold out). If you do not want them replaced we will issue a refund of the tuber price only.  We are not responsible for customer negligence, weather, soil conditions, and pest or rodent damage.
